Dhaka, Aug 4 (UNB) - Usha Krira Chakra kept their title hope alive after playing a 1-1 draw with Abahani Limited in a crucial super league match of Green Delta Insurance Metropolis Premier Division Hockey League at the Maulana Bhashani National Hockey Stadium here today (Saturday).

Earlier in the opening match of the league in last June, Usha KC upset holders Abahani Limited beating them by 4-1 goals.

With the day’s draw, Walton Club Cup champions Usha KC remained at the 2nd slot in the league table securing 34 points from 13 matches, three points behind the league leaders Dhaka Mohammedan SC, which bagged 37 points from 13 matches.

Holders Abahani Limited remained in the 3rd position with 29 points from the same number of outings, adding only 5 points from three super league matches.

The match, which was earlier scheduled for Friday, had been postponed and shifted for a day due to unplayable condition of the ground.

In the day’s match, Abahani Limited dominated the first half by 1-0 goal.

Kashim Ali put Abahani ahead in the 20th minute from a penalty corner.

Shabaz Ali of Usha KC leveled the margin in the 58th minute, also from a penalty corner.

The Sunday’s lone league match between Abahani Ltd vs Sonali Bank will be held at 2: pm instead of 3.15 pm.
