Dhaka, Aug 5 (UNB) – A parliamentary body on Sunday suggested taking steps for realising over Tk 3.72 crore as levy charge from shipping agent and employers.
The parliamentary standing committee on Public Accounts made the suggestion at meeting of No. 1 sub-committee of the parliamentary watchdog held at Sangsad Bhaban.
The meeting also suggested realising the losses worth over Tk 6.83 lakh caused to the Chittagong port fund for taking supply of equipment at a high rate through third tender instead of a rate fixed at the first tender within 60 days.
It recommended taking action against the offenders and informing the subcommittee of the matter within 60 days.
The meeting also held an elaborate discussion on different audit reports and audit objections.
Chaired by the committee chairman Prof. Mohammad Ali Ashraf, the meeting was attended by committee members Dr. TIM Fazley Rabbi Chowdhury and Abdus Salam.
