Dhaka, Aug 06 (UNB) – The Foreign Ministry and the Religious Affairs Ministry have been recommended to implement their projects with speed, utmost sincerity and firmness so that they can be completed on time and the pledges made by the government to the countrymen fulfilled one after another.
The recommendation came at the 35th meeting of the parliamentary standing committee on government pledges, held at Sangsad Bhaban on Monday with committee chairman Prof Ali Ashraf in the chair.
The Religious Affairs Ministry was asked to properly implement the Hajj policy. The ministry has been advised to be careful in handling the affairs of the hajis so they do not face any hassle.
The meeting recommended the ministry to ensure that the pilgrims` flight to Saudi Arabia is hassle-free and they do not face any accommodation problem during Hajj by renting residence for them in Makkah and Madina on time.
Recommendation was made to monitor and regulate the activities of Hajj agencies so that no haji is cheated by them.
The meeting noted with dissatisfaction that no representative of the Foreign Ministry attended the meeting.
Recommendation was also made to expedite eradication of illiteracy by strengthening mosque and temple-based mass education across the country.
Committee members Alhaj Md Abdul Kuddus, Rasheda Begum Heera, BM Mojammel Haque and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury and IMED secretary Md Mojammel Haque attended the meeting.
