Gazipur, Aug 06 (UNB) - The Department of Environment (DoE) on Monday fined a dyeing factory Tk 14 lakh for polluting environment in Joydevpur in Sadar upazila.
A DoE team, led by Director (enforcement) Munir Chowdhury found that the effluent treatment plant (ETP) of Tung High Knitting and Dyeing was inoperative.
The team slapped Tk 1450,000 lakh fine on the factory on charge of polluting environment and ordered to restart its ETP after repair immediately.
According to the DoE, the factory had been releasing untreated liquid wastes into Turag River for a long time.
