Five held with Phensidyl, hemp in Jessore, Kishoreganj
Dhaka, Aug 7 (UNB) – Police arrested five drug peddlers in Jessore and Kishoreganj districts on Tuesday and Monday and recovered Phensidyl syrup and hemp from their possession.
In Jessore, police arrested two drug peddlers along with 26 bottles of Phensidyl syrup in Bagharpara upazila this (Tuesday) morning.
The arrested were identified as Masud, 22, son of Rafiqur Rahman, and Shipon, 20, son of late Nazim Uddin Gazi of Parhaja village in Jhikargachha upazila of the district.
On secret information, a police team from Khajura Police Camp intercepted a motorbike in the upazila headquarters at about 6 am while Masud and Nazim were carrying the contraband syrup.
Later, the law enforcers recovered the Phensidyl syrup from a bag. They also seized the bike.
A case was filed in this connection.
In Kishoreganj, police arrested three people along with 15 kgs of hemp at Kamaliarchar village in Sadar upazila on Monday.
The arrestees are Jharu Mia, 55, Saddam Hossain, 20, and Rafiq Mia, 35, all hail from Bijoynagar upazila in Brahmanbaria district.
Police said, on secret information, they launched a drive in the area and arrested the trio along with hemp from an auto-rickshaw around noon when they were going to Gafargaon along with the drugs.
