
Comilla, Aug 7 (UNB) – Bibir Bazar Land Port situated in Sadar upazila of the district realised Tk 479,729,434 in revenue in the last financial year.
Of the total revenues, the port realised Tk 479,653,945 in export of stone and cement while Tk 75,889 in import of rawhide in 2011-2012 fiscal year.
The port authorities said only two consignments of rawhide were imported through Bibir Bazar Land Port in the last financial year.
In terms of months, the port realised Tk 22,038,444 in July, Tk 23,207,930 in August, Tk 24,700,655 in September, Tk 23,554,717 in October, Tk 29,013,919 in November, Tk 42,299,134 in December, Tk 54,205,678 in January, Tk 36,927,444 in February, Tk 72,485,837 in March, Tk 54,909,965 in April, Tk 56,574,975 in May and Tk 39,653,509 in June.
However, Bibir Bazar Land Port could have earned more revenue if it had the required manpower and the port access road had been repaired, said assistant revenue officer M Kalim Ullah at the port.
He said the port access road is so dilapidated that goods-laden trucks cannot ply it.
