Chandpur, Aug 7 (UNB) - A university student was stabbed to death allegedly by his uncle over a bet of Tk 20 on a ‘ludu’ game at Shing Adda village in Kachua upazila on Monday night.

The deceased was identified as Enamul Haque, 24, an Honours student of Business Studies Department of Dania University College, Dhaka and son of Kari Ali Ahammad of the village.

Police and family sources said Enmaul recently returned home from Dhaka to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with his near and dear ones.

Enamul and his uncle Mohammad Ullah, 24, were playing a ludu game at about 8 pm when they made a bet of Tk 20 on the game.

After the game was over, an altercation ensued between them over the betted money.

The altercation turned serious at about 9 pm and at one stage, Mohammad stabbed Enamul who collapsed on the ground and lost his senses.

He was rushed to Kachua Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.

The angry mob caught Mohammad and handed him over to police after a good beating. He was now undergoing treatment at the health complex under police custody.

A case was filed in this connection, officer-in-charge Jahangir Alam of Kachua Police Station said, adding that the body was sent to Chandpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
