Poacher arrested with venison of deer in Bagerhat

Bagerhat, Aug 07 (UNB) – Police on Tuesday arrested a poacher along with venison of deer at Joymoni in Mongla upazila.

The arrestee was identified as Jahangir Fokir, 42, son of Kayem Uddin Fokir of Khankarerber village.

Acting on secret information Mongla police conducted a drive at Joymoni and held him along with 8 kilograms of venison at about 11:30 pm.

Jahangir along with his two accomplices illegally hunted a deer and slaughtered it to sell its hide and venison to make huge profit.

Mongla thana OC Sheikh Monirul Gias confirmed the incident,

Meanwhile, police in last six months arrested at least 20 deer hunters along with venison, skin and bones from Sundarbans East Zone in Bagerhat.
