
Narail, Aug 8 (UNB) – Two people were killed and at least 10 others injured in a fierce clash between two groups of people at Char Amdanga in Lohagara upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shukur Molla, 60, and Masud Molla, 50, of the village.
Local sources said Tuku Molla and Yunus Molla of the village had an altercation at a local Iftar party on Tuesday evening.
As a sequel to the brawl, their supporters, equipped with sharp weapons, locked into a clash at about 8 am today.
A chase and counter chase took place during the melee that left Shukur, loyal to Tuku, and Masud, a follower of Yunus, dead on the spot and others injured.
On information, police rushed in and brought the situation under control, said officer-in-charge of Lohagara Police Station Akram Hossain who also visited the spot.
The law enforcers also recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.
The injured were admitted to Lohagara and Kashiani health complexes.
