News - BNP slams govt for ‘failure’ to stop border killings
Dhaka, Aug 8 (UNB) - BNP standing committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan on Wednesday said the government will be made accountable for its failure to stop the killing of Bangladeshis by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) along the border.

“Though the BSF men are killing Bangladeshis without any reason along the border, the government is not raising its voice against the barbaric acts of the Indian border guards,” he told a human chain programme.

Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Muktijuddher Prajonma (BJMP) organised the programme in front of the National Press Club protesting killings along the border by BSF.

Describing the present government as ‘anti-people’, Moyeen Khan said it is working to protect the interests of India in stead of country’s people. “A pro-people government will be established if BNP is voted to power.”

Terming the killings committed by BSF personnel along the border medieval barbarism, the BNP leader said people cannot be killed in a civilised society.

He is of the view that there should not be any barbed-wire fence along the border of the two neighbouring countries.

Former Deputy Minister Ruhul Quddus Dulu and BNP Central Executive Member Khaleda Yasmin, among others, addressed the human chain programme presided over by BJMP president Shama Obaid
