Chittagong, Aug 9 (UNB) – Train communication of the port city of Chittagong and the rest of the country, including capital Dhaka, remained disrupted since early Thursday as a train derailed at Fouzderhat in Sitakunda upazila on Dhaka-Chittagong route.
Zakir Hossain, divisional transportation officer of Railway’s east zone, said a Chittagong-bound train, ‘Nasirbad Express’, from Mymensingh hit a sand-laden truck at Fouzderhat at about 4:30am, throwing its engine and two bogies out of the track.
He said the rail communications with the port city and the rest of the country remained halted since then. “The train services will resume soon as a salvage train has reached the spot.”
Hossain also said at least 10 people were injured in the incident. They were treated in local hospitals and medical centers.
