Garments owner knifed to death by muggers in capital

Dhaka, Aug 09 (UNB) – A ready-made garments factory owner was knifed to death by muggers at Doel Chattar (circle) near Shishu Academy in Dhaka University area on Thursday night.

The deceased was identified as Mahmudul Hashem Chowdhury, alias Ratan, 48, son of late Abdul Malek Chowdhury.

He was the Managing Director of Summer Fashion and Textiles Ltd, an RMG unit situated at Bormi at Sripur in Gazipur.

Mahmudul Hashem was going to capital`s Palashi from Nayabazar with Tk 100,000 by a rickshaw at about 6:40 pm.

A gang of muggers intercepted his rickshaw at Doel Chattar. They stabbed him randomly and snatched away a packet packed with Tk 100,000, his mobile phone set and other valuables, leaving him critically injured.
 
Pedestrians rescued and rushed him to nearby Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctor declared him dead on arrival at 8 pm.
