Dhaka, Aug 10 (UNB) - A daylong workshop on water and sanitation will be held at Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) Auditorium in the city on Sunday (August 12).

The National Alliance for Risk Reduction and Response Initiatives (NARRI) Consortium is going to organise the workshop to share findings of a study.

Food and Disaster Management Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque is expected to inaugurate the workshop as chief guest.

Local Government Division secretary Abu Alam Md Shahid Khan, additional secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Division Mohammad Abdul Wazed and directorate general for Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection - ECHO, Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, Olivier Brouant, will attend the workshop as special guests. Chief Engineer of DPHE Nuruzzaman will preside over the workshop.

The study report titled “Mainstreaming of Disaster Risk Reduction into the Government’s Schemes on Water and Sanitation: Gap Analysis and Way Forward” will be shared at the workshop.

The study was commissioned by NARRI Consortium under the project-“A Disaster Resilient Future: Mobilising Communities and Institutions for Effective Risk Reduction” funded by the European Commission Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection (ECHO).
