RIYADH, Saudi Arabia, Aug 11 (AP/UNB) - Saudi Arabia says Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal has undergone abdominal surgery.

A Royal Court statement Saturday said al-Faisal was operated upon to remove a "simple" blockage in the intestines due to adhesions resulting from previous surgery.

The 72-year-old prince, who is nephew to King Abdullah, has been foreign minister since 1975. The statement did not say where the surgery was performed.
