
Chittagong, Aug 12 (UNB) - A local Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leader was killed and eight activists were injured in a clash between two factions of BCL at Ranirhat in Rangunia upazila on Saturday midnight.
The deceased was identified as Rashed Chouwdhury, 25, Relief and Rehabilitation Management secretary of Rangunia upazila BCL unit.
Police and locals said the clash ensued following an altercation in a meeting presided over by Rajanagar UP Chairman Mostofa Kamal Jahangir over joining local BNP leader Ilias to Awami League.
The two rival groups equipped with lethal weapons attacked on each other at about 12:00 am, leaving nine people, including Rashed, injured.
Seriously injured Rashed died on the way to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
