
Dhaka, Aug 12 (UNB) – Water level in the country’s all rivers except Ganges will fall in the next three days due to the low flow of water from the upstream for lack of rains, according to an official of Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
“Water level in the country’s all rivers except the Ganges will go down in the next three days. Waterlogging situation will improve all over the country,” FFWC executive engineer Amirul Hossain told UNB on Sunday.
According to a bulletin of the FFWC, water levels in 33 river stations monitored rises and 37 stations recorded falls on Sunday. Water levels in all the river stations are flowing below respective danger levels while water levels in three stations have remained steady.
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna, Padma and the upper Meghna systems are on falling trend and the Ganges is on rising trend. No flood situation prevails over the country
Significant rainfall was also recorded at some stations in different districts during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am (Sunday).
A total of 225 mm rainfall was recorded at Lama, 96 mm at Bandarban, 59 mm at Khulna, 44 mm at Chandpur, 38 mm at Durgapur and 34 mm at Bogra during the period.
