Dhaka, Aug 12 (UNB) – A parliamentary watchdog on Sunday formed a three-member subcommittee to look into the legal basis of Delwar Hossain Sayedee’s changing of name and age.

Whip Sheikh Abdul Wahab will lead the subcommittee. Its two other members are Mohammad Shah Alam and Biren Sikder.

The parliamentary standing committee on Education Ministry also recommended taking quick steps for payment of salaries and allowances of the newly appointed teachers and assistant librarians.

The ministry has also been asked to implement the recommendations made at a meeting of the parliamentary body earlier for promotion of demonstrators immediately.

The suggestions came at the 30th meeting of the parliamentary watchdog held at Sangsad Bhaban with committee chairman Rashed Khan Menon in the chair.

The meeting also held discussion on Jagannath University (amendment) Act 2012, Comilla University (Amendment) Act 2012 and Kazi Nazrul Islam University (Amendment) Act 2012.

The meeting finalised reports on those acts with minor amendment for passage in the House.

Committee members Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, whip Sheikh Abdul Wahab, Kazi Faruk Quader, Biren Sikder, Mohammad Shah Alam and Mamtaz Begum attended the meeting.

The University Grants Commission Chairman, the Education Secretary and the Vice-chancellor of Jagannath University were also present.
