Police inspector killed, 5 injured in Comilla road crash

Comilla, Aug 12 (UNB) – A police inspector was killed and five other people were injured in a road accident at Putia on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Iliotganj in Daudkandi on Sunday evening.

The dead is Rashid ul Islam, 38, Inspector (investigation) of Ullapara Police Station in Sirajganj district. He hailed from Kushtia sadar upazila.

Mainamati thana OC Jahangir Alom said a Dhaka-bound `Ekushey Paribahan` bus from Noakhali collided head on with a truck leaving its passenger police inspector Rashid dead on the spot and five other passengers injured at about 6 pm.

Of the injured, three were admitted to Gouripur Hospital and two others were rushed to Pongu Hospital in the capital.

The inspector was returning his workplace from Police Academy in Noakhali after taking training.
