Tribute paid to Humayun Ahmed in Washington

Dhaka, Aug 12 (UNB) – Speakers paid rich tribute to popular writer Humayun Ahmed at a commemorative meeting held in US capital Washington DC on Saturday.

Bangladesh Embassy in Washington organized the memorial meeting on the late fiction writer.

Discussants recalled his contribution to Bangla literature and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.

Akramul Quader, Bangladesh ambassador to USA, Anis Ahmed, correspondent of Voice of America (Bangla Service), journalist Harun Chowdhury, Shibbir Ahmed, Dr Nakib Uddin, Mahmudun Nabi Baki and Mahbubul Islam Priyo, among others, attended in the meeting.

A documentary on the life of Dr. Humayun Ahmed and his last days in USA was shown after the meeting.

Humayun Ahmed died at Bellevue Hospital in New York on July 19. He was 64.
