
Dhaka, Aug 13 (UNB) - President Zillur Rahman left here for Saudi Arabia tonight (Sunday night) at the invitation of Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.
A regular flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the President took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:15 am, President’s deputy press secretary Abul Kalam Azad told UNB.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Agriculture Minister Matia Choudhury, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, the Cabinet secretary, the Dean of the diplomatic corps, the chiefs of the three services, charge d’ Affaires at Saudi Embassy in Dhaka, high military and civil officials saw the President off at the VVIP terminal of the airport.
During his visit, President Zillur Rahman will attend the 4th Extraordinary Session of the Islamic Summit Conference to be held in Makkah on 14-15 August.
The President is scheduled to deliver a speech at the summit where heads of the OIC countries will take part and discuss the present situation and the problems of the Muslim Ummah.
President Zillur will also perform Umrah during his stay in the holy city of Makkah.
The President’s entourage includes his family members, secretaries and officials of his office. The President is expected to return home on August 17.
