Brahmanbaria, Aug 13 (UNB) – Police arrested six members of an inter-district robber gang at Panishwar village in Sarail upazila while they were taking preparation to commit a robbery in the nearby Meghna river early Sunday.
The arrested were identified as Syed Hossain, 28, Zakir Hossain, 26, and Milon Miah of Panishwar village, Jesim, 28, of Bahadurpur village in Ashuganj upazila and Kabir Hossain, 32, and Saddam Hossain, 28, of village Ibrahimpur in Belabo upazila of Narsingdi district.
Locals said when a gang of robbers led by ringleader Borhan of Panishwar area gathered on the river bank to commit robbery on some fishing trawlers and boats they gheroaed them around 2:00. Later, after a hot chase the villagers caught six members of the gang while others managed to flee.
Later, after mass beating the robbers were handed over to the police. A case was filed.
