Man chopped to death in Natore

Natore, Aug 13 (UNB) - A young man was chopped to death by unknown assailants in Lalpur upazila of the district on Sunday night.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Malek, 35, son of Belal Hossain of Dilalpur village in the upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Lalpur police station Matiur Rahman said while returning home from nearby Islampur village a gang of miscreants waylaid Malek at about 8:30pm and at one stage chopped him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Hearing his cry for help local people rescued and rushed him to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.

The reason behind the murder could not be ascertained immediately. A case was filed.
