News - FBCCI election defers again; fresh schedule after Eid
Dhaka, Aug 13 (UNB) – The Ministry of Commerce has extended the deadline for holding the biennial election to the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) by a month.

The election (2012-2014) was scheduled to be held on October 21. The fresh schedule for the polls will be announced after the Eid-ul-Fitr vacation, officials at the FBCCI said on Monday.

Earlier, the ministry extended the time for holding the election by 30 days from November 1 in the face of request from different quarters, including the FBCCI leaders.

The Election Board held a meeting on Monday with its chairman Prof M Ali Ashraf MP in the chair and decided to announce the new election reschedule after Eid. Board member Abu Bakar Siddique Dilip was also present.

On Thursday, the FBCCI Election Board announced the schedule for the biennial election.
