3 killed in Comilla road crash

Comilla, Aug 16 (UNB) – Three people were killed and 20 others injured when a bus after colliding head-on with a covered van plunged into a roadside ditch at Chandana Krishnapur on Comilla-Noakhali road in Laksam upazila early this (Thursday) morning.

The deceased were identified as Ziarul, 27, son of late Fazlul Haque and Mizanur Rahman, 16, son of Barjahan of Tarapur village and Selim Reza,  27, son of Shahjaman of Ektipur village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district.

Witnesses said the Dhaka-bound bus fell into the ditch early in the morning as it collided with the speeding covered van coming from opposite direction, leaving three people dead on the spot.

The injured were admitted to Fair Health Hospital in the upazila.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital morgue for autopsy.

A case was filed with Laksam thana in this connection.
