Sunamganj, Aug 16 (UNB) - A school teacher was arrested for making derogatory comment about Bangabandhu while addressing a discussion held at the school premises to mark the National Mourning Day on Wednesday.

The arrestee was identified as Abul Ala Maudud, headmaster of Sunamganj Government Satish Chandra Girls High School.

School sources said in his speech at the discussion meeting Abul Ala Maudud compared Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with late president of Iraq Saddam Hossain and slain Libyan leader Col (retd) Moammar Gaddafi who was overthrown and killed at his hometown Sirte by a group of people during Arab spring last year.

Besides this the headmaster also allegedly made objectionable remarks while addressing the meeting.

Being informed police arrested the headmaster from the school that evening.

Assistant Police Super of Sunamganj Sadar Circle Tawhidul Islam Chowdhury confirmed his arrest for making slur about the father of the nation.
