Criminal held with pistol, bullets in Comilla

Comilla, Aug 19 (UNB) - Locals held an extortionist along with a pistol and four bullets in Sadar South upazila and handed him over to police on Sunday evening.

The arrested is Rajib Kumar Souma, 23, son of Ratan Kumar Souma of Sambakshi village in the upazila.

Police said criminals demanded Tk 15 lakh in toll to Masum of Rajapur Kuderpara about 10 days ago.

They, led by ringleader Rezaul Karim, went to the house of Masum at about 6 pm today to collect money.

As Masum refused to pay them, the criminals opened fire indiscriminately that alerted the locals.

Later, the local people chased and criminals and caught Rajib along with the firearm and bullets and handed him over to police.

Masum escaped the firing unhurt.
