Azad returns home after attending Int’l Culture Summit
Dhaka, Aug 19 (UNB) - Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Abul Kalam Azad returned home from the United Kingdom on Sunday after attending the ‘Edinburgh International Culture Summit’ in Scotland.
British and Scottish governments, British Council and Edinburgh International Festival organised the two-day summit on August 13-14 involving cultural affairs ministers and leading commentators.
Delegates from some 30 countries attended the conference featuring three plenary sessions in the Scottish Parliament's Debating Chamber and nine private policy discussions.
While delivering his speech in a plenary session, Abul Kalam Azad underscored the need for increasing cultural fellowship and cooperation among the participating countries to resist cultural terrorism, fundamentalism and repression.
He also portrayed different aspects of the rich culture of Bangladesh.
