3 held with 5.4 tonnes Indian fertiliser in Jhenidah

Jhenidah, Aug 19 (UNB) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) seized 5.4 tonnes of Indian fertiliser and arrested three smugglers in Moheshpur upazila on Sunday afternoon.

The arrested were identified as Moniruzzaman Mondal, son of Kalu Mondal; Farhad Ali, son of Shahidul Islam; and Ohidul Islam Mondal, son of Ainal Mondal of Goyespur village in the district.

Action on a tip-off, a team of RAB-6 conducted a drive at Jadabpur village at about 4:30 pm and seized the contraband Indian fertiliser while being unloaded in a godown on Moheshpur-Jadabpur road.

The crime busters also arrested the three smugglers in this connection.

A case was lodged with Moheshpur Police Station in this connection.
