Sylhet, Aug 19 (UNB) - A teenage boy allegedly committed suicide at Pabai village in Kulaura upazila of Moulvibazar district on Sunday after failing to get a pair of shoes of his choice.

The victim was identified as Sultan Ahmed, 17, son of Abdul Masabbir of the village.

Locals said Masabbir has bought a pair of Burmese sandals for Sultan on the occasion of Eid which could not satisfy his desires.

Sultan’s mother has given him Tk 500 to buy another pair of shoes after he showed his anger to her.

The teenage boy, however, locked his room from inside and hanged himself with a ceiling fan of the room at about 11 am.

After getting no response from Sultan, family members broke open the door only to see him hanging from the ceiling.

Later, they brought him to the health centre of a local tea estate where doctors declared him dead.
