Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in 140 villages

News - Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated in 140 villages
Dhaka, Aug 19 (UNB) - Muslims in around 140 villages in several districts of the country celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday in conformity with Saudi Arabia.

Claiming them as followers of Quaderia Tarika, they started Ramadan fasting a day before the start in Bangladesh in line with the sighting of the Ramadan moon in Saudi Arabia.

In Chittagong, around 3,000 families of 30 villages in seven upazilas celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday.

Most of the devotees who observed Eid on Sunday are the follower of Silsilia Alia Jahangir Pir Darbar Sharif of Satkania.

The main Eid congregation was held at the Darbar Sharif with participation of about 2,000 people.

Eid-ul Fitr was celebrated in 40 villages of Chandpur district on Sunday amid much enthusiasm and religious fervour.

The villages are in Hajiganj, Faridganj and Matlab North upazilas.

In Shariatpur, 1200 families in 30 villages, including the followers of Shureswar Pir, celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Sunday.

The main Eid congregation was held at Sureswari Darbar Sharif ground at 10 am conducted by Syed Shah Nure Kamal.

Muslims of eight villages in Sadar and Ramganj upazilas of Laxmipur district celebrated Eid on Sunday in conformity with Saudi Arabia.

Eid-ul-Fitr was also celebrated in 14 villages in Bhola, seven in Faridpur and Munshiganj each, one village in Comilla, Moulvibazar and Chapainawabganj each.
