Munshiganj, Aug 20 (UNB) - At least four people were killed and 34 others injured in a bus plunge near Lalbaria in Sirajdikhan upazila on Monday.

Two of the deceased were identified Subarna, 7, daughter of Sumon Mia of Abirpara village of the upazila and Abdur Rahman, alias Mister, 45, son of late Suruj Mia of Char Mahmudadpur of Tongibari upazila.

The identities of two other deceased could not be ascertained immediately.

Contacted, Deputy Commissioner of the district Md Azizul Alam confirmed the incident.

Police and witnesses said a bus, packed with 35 passengers, skidded and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering leaving Subarna and Abdur Rahman dead on the spot and 32 others injured, many of them severely in the afternoon.

Among the injured two critically injured died at a local hospital. The rest of the injured were admitted to different hospitals in Munshiganj and a Dhaka hospital.

Being informed a Fire Brigade unit rushed to the spot and rescued the injured with the help of police and local people.

The firefighters and the police also lifted the bus from under 15 feet deep water.
