1 killed in Pabna clash

Pabna, Aug 21 (UNB) – A man was killed and five others were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers at Uttar Para village in Sadar upazila on Tuesday.

Police said there had been a longstanding conflict between Abbas Ali and his cousin Abdul Jalil over the ownership of a piece of land at the village.

The supporters of both the rival groups engaged in the clash at about 10:30am, leaving six people injured. One of the injured, Imran Ali, 35, died on the way to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

As the death news of Imran, a supporter of Abbas group, spread around, Abbas’ supporters damaged five houses and set those on fire.

On information, local police and firefighters rushed in and quelled the situation.
