B’desh eves lose by 61 runs against Ireland in D/L method

Dhaka, Aug 22 (UNB) - Bangladesh women’s cricket team conceded 61-run defeat against hosts Ireland in Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method in a rain-interrupted ODI match on Tuesday at Phoenix Cricket Club Ground in Dublin.

Earlier, the match was reduced to 45 overs due to bad weather.

Sent in to bat first, Ireland scored 148 for 6 in their stipulated 45 overs.

Irish skipper IMHC Joyce made team highest 43 runs off 97 balls with three fours. Besides, EAJ Richardson scored 31 runs off 37 balls with four fours.

Bangladesh skipper Salma Khatun and Rumana Ahmed took two wickets each for 29 and 23 runs respectively.

After the Irish innings, the match was again interrupted by rain to bring in Duckworth-Lewis (D/L) method and consequently the target for Bangladesh climbed up to 156 from 38 overs.

In reply, Bangladesh eves were all out for 94 runs in 35.4 overs.

Lata Mondal scored 25 runs off 60 balls with one boundary while Sultana Yasmin and Ritu Moni were the two other batsmen reach double figures scoring 11 and 15 runs respectively.

LN McCarthy grabbed four wickets for 18 runs while Joyce took three wickets for 16 runs.

Bangladesh women will play Pakistan in their next ODI match of the tour on Thursday (Aug 23) at 3:45 pm Bangladesh time (09:45 GMT) in Dublin.
