Housewife among 2 killed in city

Dhaka, Aug 22 (UNB) – Two people, including a housewife, were killed in separate incidents in the city’s Mirpur and Khilkhet areas on Wednesday.

Police said Rikta Akhter, 22, wife of Manzurul Haque, of 55/1/A Uttar Pirerbagh under Mirpur Police Station, was strangulated to death allegedly by her husband in their bedroom early Wednesday.  

On information, Mirpur police recovered the body around 9am today and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, police arrested Manzurul in connection with the killing.

In another incident, an unidentified youth, suspected to be a thief, was beaten to death by the employees of Upon Homes, a real estate company at Madhdhyapara near Battola under Khelkhet Police Station, at about 2:00 am.

Informed by locals, Khelkhet police recovered the body around 11:30 am and sent it to the DMCH morgue for postmortem.

Contacted, officer-in-charge of Khelkhet Police Station Shamim Hossain said they arrested store officer of the real estate company, Sohel Rana, on charge of killing the youth.
