News - President finally accepts Abul Hossain’s resignation
Dhaka, Aug 23 (UNB) – The government on Thursday issued a notification declaring the cabinet post of former Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister Syed Abul Hossain vacant after a month of his resignation.

“…Syed Abul Hossain resigned on July 23. His resignation letter has been accepted by the President,” the notification issued by the Cabinet Division said.

Under the circumstances, the cabinet membership of Syed Abul Hossain fell vacant on July 23 as per the section 58 (1) (Ka) of the Constitution, the notification said.

Earlier, Hossain, also a former Communications Minister, stepped down from the Cabinet in an apparent move to help revive the World Bank’s loan deal for the Padma Bridge project.

Hossain who was transferred to the ICT Ministry on December 5 after the WB brought graft allegation against him in the bridge project, quit after a prolonged controversy on July 23.
