
Dhaka, Sept 2 (UNB) – Visiting State Minister for Foreign and Home Affairs of Singapore Zulkifli Masagos on Sunday said an investment-friendly policy will certainty attract substantial investment to Bangladesh from his country.
“The private sector investors of Singapore are looking at Bangladesh as an alternative destination for investment,” he said after a meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni at the state guesthouse Padma.
During the meeting, both the ministers discussed the entire gamut of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Singapore, including the promotion of trade, exchange of knowledge, technology transfer and export of human resources.
To facilitate greater trade, they have also agreed to early conclusion of a shipping agreement between the two countries.
Dipu Moni also requested the Singapore Minister to ease the visa regime for the Bangladeshi nationals visiting Singapore for education, tourism, including health tourism.
In response, Masagos advised the prospective students from Bangladesh for selecting the institutes in Singapore from the ‘white list of schools’, approved by their government.
Masagos, on a 5-day exploratory visit, will also meet Home Minister Advocate Shahara Khatun and interact with business leaders in Dhaka and Chittagong.
