Renovation work on Meghna Bridge begins

Comilla, Sept 2 (UNB) – The renovation work on Meghna Bridge on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway began from Saturday midnight.

MAN Siddik, secretary of Communications Ministry, inaugurated the work.

High officials of Roads and Highways department and local administration were present.     

Vehicular movement on the bridge will remain suspended from midnight to 6am till September 7 due to the work.

Vehicles have been asked to use alternative routes during the restriction.

Col Rafiqullah, project director of Special Works Organisation, said the renovation work on the Narayanganj part of the bridge will be done in the first two days, while work on Meghna-Gumti (Daudkandi part) will be done in next five days.
