Dhaka, Sept 13 (UNB) – Ruma Matin, alias Lamia Begum, wife of language movement veteran ABM Abdul Matin, breathed her last at LabAid Specialised Hospital in the city on Tuesday. She was 65.
Family sources said she passed away while receiving treatment at LabAid Hospital at night due to various complexities.
She was laid to rest at Martyred Intellectuals` Graveyard in Mirpur. Her Qulkhwani will be held on Friday after Asr prayers at her Rupnagar residence.
Ruma Matin was alumni of the first batch o Chhayanat (a music institution) and was an exponent of Tagore`s songs.
She was a regular artist of Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar and contributed a lot to cultural arena.
Her relatives, friends, students and admirers have been requested to attend the Qulkhwani.
