AL leader among 3 killed in Comilla road accident
Comilla, Sept 14 (UNB) - Three people, including an Awami League leader, were killed and five others injured in a road accident in Bagur bus stand area in Chandina upazila on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Rafayet Ullah Mollah, 65, former President of Chandpur district Awami League, his nephew Hasan, 25 and Mahfuja, 30, wife of Shafiq of Chandina upazila.
Police said the accident took place in the area in the morning when a Comilla-bound bus from Homna dashed a truck from behind parked in the bus stand area and then hit a rickshaw passing the area, killing rickshaw passenger Mahfuja on the spot and injuring her two children and five bus passengers.
Of the injured, Rafayet Ullah and Sohel died on the way to Comilla Medical College Hospital while the others were admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.
