RMG workers block Dhaka-Narayanganj road

Narayanganj, Jan 2 (UNB) – Traffic movement on Dhaka-Narayanganj-Pagla road was hampered for about one and a half hours due to barricades put up by the workers of a garment factory on Wednesday.

Police said about several hundred workers of the factory, Toufiq Sweater, owned by Shobhon Group, took to the street and blocked the road at Masdair in Sadar upazila at about 10:30 am, demanding increase in their overtime wages.

The angry workers also vandalized three battery run auto-rickshaws and a bus.

They withdrew the blockade at about 11:45am as police assured them of fulfilling their demand.
